Our Story
In 2018, the Office of the Fresno County Superintendent of Schools was selected to lead the California Statewide Early Math Initiative. FCSS – in collaboration with the AIMS Center for Math and Science Education, the California Early Math Project, WestEd, and film producer Les Mayfield III – are tasked to create innovative professional development, communications, and resources to improve mathematics achievement outcomes for children in early childhood and beyond. The project includes a collaborative statewide strategy to provide resources, training, and communications through the following:
-
Building and increasing the mathematical confidence, leadership, and content knowledge of teachers, care providers, and parents
-
Disseminating math strategies and resources to teachers, care providers, and parents statewide through existing distribution channels and by leveraging technology
-
Scaling a teacher coaching and leadership model across the state
