Mathematics is Moving!

Kids love to move around! What if we could invite mathematics into that movement and make it a playful learning experience? Come explore ways to integrate movement with counting, patterns, computational thinking, and spatial communication. We will share playful activities that can be adapted to a variety of developmental levels and learning environments.

Elin has a passion for engaging learners of all ages in playful hands-on activities that develop an understanding of STEAM content and foster curiosity about the world around them.  She spent over 20 years in public education as a classroom teacher, instructional coach, and TSA in elementary mathematics. Elin completed her M.A. in Math Education at Fresno Pacific and certificate for Educational Leadership at Fresno State. She is currently working with local educators on implementing maker education in formal and informal educational settings. As a maker herself, Elin likes to explore making with her hands through needlework such as embroidery and needlepoint and with her feet through tap dancing. She loves spending time outside either in her garden or roaming around the Shaver Lake area.

Elin Anderson

Brook has spent 13 years in public education as a high school mathematics teacher, mathematics coach, and early math research associate. In her current role as PK-12 Coordinator at the AIMS Center, Brook’s work engages early STEAM educators in professional learning aimed at creating rich and playful educational experiences for students. Brook completed her B.S. in Mathematics and M.A. in Education at Fresno State. Brook is passionate about ensuring all students have early opportunities to engage in meaningful STEAM learning to spark curiosities that will last a lifetime. Brook enjoys traveling with her family, Crossfit, and studying random interests.
